Mid Week Challenge Results after Round 6

Steve Maas, Wednesday, 14 November 2018

Round 6 was the final round for Grades A and B however C Grade still has one more round. Unfortunately Belrose has a bye in this last round so they must wait one more week to see if they can win their Section. Belrose are currently 4.5 points ahead of Seaforth and 6 points ahead of Mosman however if either Seaforth or Mosman get equal points with Belrose then Belrose is likely to be knocked out on shot differentials.

Our A(1) Side are through to the finals and will play Harbord on 5 Dec at Harbord.

The C Grade finals are to be played at Belrose on 5 Dec.

Billie Maas, Thursday, 18 October 2018

Congratulations to the team of Lorraine Hazzard, Daphne Menzies and Billie Maas who took out the Club Triples Championship 20-10 today, over the team of Judith Clubb, Anne Vacarella and Michelle Treadwell. Ten teams entered the comp this year, and both finalist teams had to come from behind in their semi-finals to make it into today’s match. Billie’s team got off to a good start in the final, establishing a 10-3 lead after 9 ends. Then Michelle called for her lead to bring the mat up and roll just over minimum lengths, resulting in the next four ends being won by her team and the scoreboard reading 10-9. However, the momentum of the game shifted again and Lorraine, Daphne and Billie steadily pulled away to seal the win, 20-10. It was a fitting send-off for Daphne, who has been one of the club’s top bowlers over many years. (Daphne and her husband have just sold their Sydney home and are headed for Mollymook.)

Belrose Women Win Top 5 at Mosman

Billie Maas, Thursday, 11 October 2018

Congratulations to our women's side who played in the annual Top 5 event at Mosman on Thursday 11 October,  and brought home the trophy. The club Selectors had to rearrange their chosen side because some players were still involved in the playing of the club Triples Championship. Obviously they did an excellent job, because the ladies won all their games. The Pairs team was Michelle Treadwell (lead) & Margaret Brady (skip); the Triples team was Kay Alderton (lead), Benita Andrews (2nd) and Patricia Tan (skip). They claimed the trophy with 4 wins and an aggregate of 99; Double Bay were runners-up with 4 wins and an aggregate of 84. Belrose has a good record in the Mosman event, having won it most recently in 2015. The winning side is pictured here with the sponsors from Mosman Travel & Crystal Cruises.
