September 2017 Touring Bowlers Trip to Forster/Harrington.
Touring Bowlers Trip to Forster/Harrington.
On Friday 15th 32 Belrose Touring Bowlers departed by coach to Forster. Another 6 travelled by car. On the way, we stopped at Raymond Terrace on the river for morning tea and then travelled on to Old Bar Bowling Club for lunch.
Accommodation was at the Forster Palms Motel owned by Forster Bowling Club.
Saturday morning was a spot of retail shopping followed by a great game of bowls with the Forster members.
Sunday, we left a bit early with all 38 traveller’s on board to enable us to arrive at the Harrington Bowling Club (Club Harrington) for home cooked morning tea. The Club is located in an outstanding location on the head of the Harrington River. Harrington BC had more players than us and we played on 1 grass green and 1 carpet green. This was followed by a lovely lunch in a great spirt of fun and laughter. The Club own the caravan park located opposite the Club.
After lunch, we travelled to Crowdy Head and then back to Forster. Dinner was back for the 3rd night at Forster BC.
Following another hot breakfast at our motel, on Monday morning the 18th we started our trip home, with a lovely drive to Gloucester for morning tea and on to Anna Bay at Birubi Beach for lunch. We arrived back at our Club at 4-00pm after having a fantastic time.
It was pleasing to see that Bill and Elaine Glenn could travel down from Brisbane to join us.
Congratulations go to our 2 host Clubs at Forster (Jason Malone Bowls Coordinator) and Harrington (Eric Mason President) for all their hospitability.
We were pleased to have our usual Coach driver Colin from Central Coast Liners who drove us safely and looked after us so well.
Our thanks go to our committee member for assistance in handling our weekend needs and in particular Geraldine and John Fitzgerald for all their hard work in arranging the trip
Overall an outstanding 4 days and we look forward to next year’s trip away.
