2017 - Pennant Results Rd8

Peter Muir, Saturday, 29 April 2017

It was disappointing result for the Bulls today.

Grade 1 away at North Sydney. They suffered their second loss going down on two rinks. They were also well beaten on the big board at 60 - 45. They are sitting on 39 points and slip to 3rd on the ladder behind North Sydney by 0.5 point. Come on guys a BIG finish in the next two games.

Grade 2 at home to Harbord in a must win match. Boy oh boy this was a close encounter, we lost two rinks however the other got up by 24 shots. Thus we finished ahead by the narrow margin of three. We remain 3rd on the ladder with 42.5 points.

Grade 3 at home to Avalon and we had a good feeling about the way the game would go. However we were brought back to earth with a thud loosing two rinks. Avalon won the big board 63 - 46. The team now have 35.5 points overall and 4th on the ladder.

Grade 5 away at Pittwater and the loosing streak continued as the guys lost two rinks. The big board again in favour of Pittwater 68 - 49. However we have maintained second place on the ladder with 51.5 points, 14.5 points behind the leader Asquith.

Grade 6 away to Harbord and once again we lost two rinks. The overall score was 61 - 46. Tangles Murphy had been in front all day only to go down on the last end. Fitzy had struggled back from 10 - 2 down to square it up on 19 ends. We were down two going into the last and they were holding 2 shots. Fortunately a drive sunk the jack a gave us three. The skips had one short and one in the ditch another short and the other went into the pocket to take a win. Overall the team has 39 points and placed 4th on the ladder.

Grade 7 at home to the top placed Mosman. Two rinks, Gladys and Deano were able to return last round favour to Mick Potter by winning their rinks. They scored 71 - 56 on the big board. Great effort guys and you were well supported by you team mates. The guys collected 9 points, this was a very good result. The team now has 47 points and 4th on the ladder, on 8 points behind 1st place. It should be mentioned that the team of Peter Ferrett, Morris Thacker, Winston Watts and Robert (Glady's) Henderson picked up an 8 during the course of the game, you little beauty.
